Breast
Scintimammogram:
Purpose:
The breast Scintimammogram is a nuclear medicine procedure
that uses a radiopharmaceutical to detect the presence of
breast cancer.
Preparation:
There are no eating or Drinking Restrictions. Please wear
a two piece outfit as we will have you wear a hospital
gown from the waist up.
Test
Procedure:
The test is performed by injecting the Isotope into the vein
of an arm on the opposite side of the breast being evaluated.
The Images will be taken within 5 minutes after the injection.
The Images consist of an anterior projection with the patient
lying on their back and side pictures with the patient lying
on their front.
The images will take approximately 30 minutes.
The images will be interpreted by a radiologist and results
sent to your doctor.
