Time required:

Purpose:
Show how the heart muscle and valves function, and helps determine the size of your heart chambers.

Preparation:
You do not have to stop any medications, nor are there any eating or drinking restrictlons before your test. Ladies, please wear a two piece outfit because you will be required to undress from the waist up, Gentlemen will just remove their shirts.

Test Procedure:
You will lie down on your Left side on an exam table. Small pads (electrodes) are placed on your chest to monitor your heartbeat. A transducer coated with gel is moved firmly over your chest. This device creates the sound waves that makes images of your heart.
A cardiologist will interpret your exam and results will be sent to your doctor.
